I applaud your philosophy as it relates to your pictures. I think committing to that should not inhibit you from still focusing on technical perfection. I you improve the technical perfection of your photos, then you will be better expressing and sharing the things you that catch your eye. The above picture is a good scene, but the lighting could be better. Try to see if there is a better time of day that might put a more interesting light on the scene. I hope this helps.
